Mr. Tao Xiuming was Invited to attend and give a speech at the 2016 Hong Kong Summit Forum on Financial and Investment Dispute Resolution in China

Beijing Arbitration Commission/ Beijing International Arbitration Center (BAC/BIAC) and The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators East Asia Branch (CIArb (EAB)) collaborated for the Hong Kong Arbitration Week on 17 October, 2016, and successfully held the “Opportunities and Challenges under the Belt and Road Initiative: 2016 Hong Kong Summit on Financial and Investment Dispute Resolution in China” together. Having invited leading experts in arbitrating international disputes as guests, sharing their individual perspectives, this summit forum attracted more than 100 national and international professionals and experts from the legal field.

JunZeJun founding partner, Mr. Tao Xiuming (also the author of the Annual Report of the Commercial Dispute in the “2016 Annual Report of the Chinese Commercial Dispute Resolution”) took the lead to share about “Belt and Road and Commercial Dispute Resolution” in the first seminar session. He illustrated the environment abroad and within, comparing and analyzing the popularity of litigation and arbitration in resolving disputes among the stakeholders, concluding the fact that arbitration is gradually becoming the priority in dealing these disputes according to the latest trend in China and across the world. In addition, he analyzed in detail the characteristics and special features of the commercial dispute resolution in-bound, allowing audience to gain an insight into China’s commercial development and the practice of resolving disputes. Lastly, Mr. Tao evaluated the domestic challenges faced in dealing with commercial disputes, as well as the effect of Belt and Road on commercial disputes. Mr. Rupert Boswall, partner of the RPC Law Firm, and Mr. Chen Han, head of the legal department of the Deutsche Bank (China), further added onto Mr. Tao’s speech in the perspective of a lawyer and a legal consultant. Speakers responded to the questions on the floor and all the attendees had a great time exchanging ideas.

Mr. Tao has been awarded the first class lawyer for many consecutive years in the field of securitization of capital market and derivatives business by Chambers and Partners.
