JunZeJun held 10th Cross-Border Business & New Year Reception

On December 20, 2024, JunZeJun Shanghai Law Offices successfully hosted the 10th Cross-Border Business Cooperation and New Year Reception.

 

 

 

Attendees of this exchange event included distinguished guests such as Mr. John Williams, Consul General of the Australian Consulate-General in Shanghai, Mr. Tsuji Kazuki, Deputy Consul of the Japanese Consulate-General in Shanghai, Mr. Michael Quigley, Economic Officer of the U.S. Consulate-General in Shanghai, Mr. Jaesin Ko, Economic Officer of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Shanghai, and Wu Yuanxu, Liaison Officer of the Consulate General of Sweden in Shanghai, among other representatives from foreign consulates in Shanghai. Representatives from foreign government institutions in Shanghai, including the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), also attended. Mr. Shi Xiping, Deputy Secretary of the Sichuan Provincial Government Office in Shanghai, and representatives from various regional government institutions were present as well. Additionally, presidents, vice presidents, and member company representatives from organizations such as the MayCham, the Singapore Chamber of Commerce in China, the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, the American Chamber of Commerce, the Benelux Chamber of Commerce, the Australian Chamber of Commerce, the Korean Chamber of Commerce, the Shanghai International Chamber of Commerce, the Shanghai Sichuan Chamber of Commerce, the Shanghai Hunan Chamber of Commerce, the Shanghai Jiangsu Chamber of Commerce, the Shanghai Ningxia Chamber of Commerce, the Shanghai Hainan Chamber of Commerce, the Shanghai Yueyang Chamber of Commerce, the Shanghai Zhengzhou Chamber of Commerce, and the Chengdu Ya'an Chamber of Commerce joined the event. A total of approximately 300 guests, including representatives from Fortune 500 companies, industry-leading enterprises, and other major domestic and international corporations, gathered to explore opportunities for collaboration and development.

 

 

Mr. Wang Zhengyang, Senior Partner at JunZeJun Law Offices, also serves as the President of the Ya'an Branch of the Shanghai Sichuan Chamber of Commerce and the Director of the Legal Professional Committee of the Shanghai Sichuan Chamber of Commerce. As the host of this event, Mr. Wang extends his sincere gratitude to friends from all sectors for their longstanding care and support for JunZeJun. Mr. Wang introduced that JunZeJun, one of the earliest partnership law firms established in China, currently has 23 offices across the country with over 1,200 staffs, and business volume continues to grow steadily. At the event, Mr. Wang Zhengyang also introduced Ya'an's investment environment, location advantages, and cultural characteristics in both Chinese and English. Ya’an locates in a transitional zone between the Sichuan Basin and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, its forest coverage rate reaches 69.36%, and is praised as the ‘Lung of the Tianfu’. Ya'an is well-connected with convenient transportation and boasts two world-class business cards: the giant panda culture and tea culture. It is the scientific discovery and naming site of the world’s first giant panda, as well as the starting point of the ancient Sichuan-Tibet Tea Horse Road and the largest producer of Tibetan tea in China. As an important part of the Chengdu metropolitan area, Ya'an offers various convenience measures and protections for foreign-invested enterprises. Additionally, Mr. Wang provided a detailed introduction to the unique products from eight districts and counties, including tea from Mingshan District, caviar from Tianquan County, white marble from Baoxing County, and Chinese pepper from Hanyuan County.

 

 

Mr. John Williams, Consul General of Australia in Shanghai, emphasized during the event that the China-Australia trade relationship is continuously improving. China's removal of relevant additional tariffs on Australia and other policies has injected new vitality into bilateral trade, marking a return to the right development track after a period of challenges in the relationship. He looks forward to China and Australia continuing to work together in the future, creating a new chapter of cooperation, with JunZeJun continuing to play an important role in promoting the bilateral relationship.

 

 

Mr. Li Yuning, Deputy Party Secretary of Guangxi LiuGong Machinery Company, shared the remarkable journey of LiuGong’s globalization process. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to JunZeJun, LiuGong's long-term legal counsel, for 11 years of cooperation. JunZeJun has supported LiuGong's growth from a local enterprise into a globally leading multinational company by providing professional, high-quality, and efficient legal services in global compliance system development, cross-border transactions, investment and mergers, and dispute resolution.

 

 

Mr. Mitsuhiro Fukuyama, Deputy Director of JETRO Shanghai Office, highlighted that interactions between Japan and China in political, economic, and cultural fields have become increasingly frequent in recent years. With the restoration of short-term visa exemptions for Japanese citizens starting November 30th, exchanges and travel between the two nations are expected to become even closer. He sincerely thanked JunZeJun for providing outstanding legal services to numerous Japanese enterprises.

 

 

Mr. William Chang, President of the Singapore Chamber of Commerce in China, attended the event on behalf of the Singapore Consulate General in Shanghai. He shared the chamber’s achievements in recent years and discussed the broad prospects for China-Singapore cooperation in trade, economy, and culture. The chamber will continue to act as a bridge, creating more opportunities for collaboration between Chinese and Singaporean enterprises and promoting deeper economic and trade relations.

 

 

Mr. Matt Whately, Executive Director of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, introduced the chamber’s background and emphasized the strong resurgence of China-Canada trade relations in recent years. He expressed his hopes that, through mutual efforts, the relationship between China and Canada will advance toward greater stability and mutually beneficial outcomes.

 

 

Mr. Yap Chi Hui, President of the MayCham China in Shanghai, provided an overview of the chamber and its role as an essential bridge between China and Malaysia. The chamber is dedicated to fostering economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, offering robust support for Chinese enterprises investing in Malaysia. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of China-Malaysia diplomatic relations, he expressed a desire to further strengthen collaboration with JunZeJun and anticipated continued prosperity in China-Malaysia economic and trade relations.

 

 

Mr. Xu Yibin, the Deputy Secretary-General of the China-ASEAN Legal Research Center at Southwest University of Political Science and Law (SWUPL) said that as a prominent institution of legal education in China, SWUPL has always been committed to nurturing high-quality legal professionals with an international perspective and practical capabilities in foreign-related legal affairs. Since the establishment of the China-ASEAN Center in 2010, numerous high-end legal professionals have been trained to support economic and trade exchanges between China and ASEAN countries. Currently, SWUPL has established collaborative relationships with various legal institutions in ASEAN countries and regions. As an employment and internship base for SWUPL graduates, he looks forward to strengthening JunZeJun’s close collaboration with SWUPL in the cultivation of legal talent.

 

 

Mr. Wang Yun, President of the Shanghai Sichuan Chamber of Commerce, extended his warm congratulations on the successful hosting of the event and expressed his gratitude to friends from all sectors who have shown care and support for the Chamber's development.
